So celebrate it anyway. Who cares if some people think it's racist, they're obviously idiots so it doesn't matter.

I think the racism thing is just an excuse because most English people aren't actually arsed with their patron saint.

If, on March 1st, I forget and don't wear a Welsh emblem on my lapel, by noon I'll have someone asking me why not.

What'spunk.

I don't think celebrating being English makes you racist.

Carl Fogerty always carried an English flag on his lap of honour and would turn away from people who offered him a Union flag. Why not? There's nothing wrong with pride in your country as long as that's what it is and not an excuse for xenophobia.

happy st george's day!!! :01:

i've rebelled by having not one, or even two, but three flags up.
also thinking of putting my engerland pants on my head and proudly running through the streets. (after a few more cans, of course)

If I remember correctly, and I do when arses are involved, they were Union Flag pants, not Engerland pants. :smartass:

That's because the $100 (39p) thread has killed the art of thread making.

It should be closed at exactly midnight this coming Tuesday.

I just spotted the subtle jokeage in your post :/

It's a day without identity. Fact.

St. Davids day, everyone wears daffodils.
St. Patricks day, everyone wears guinness.
St. Andrews day, everyone wears thistles.
St. Georges day....????

Happy Engerlander day!

Dodgy Saint and definitely a dodgy story but what the hell...Patrick was a bit of a sod really and Andrew never got anywhere near Scotland - David is the only one that has real nationalist credibility and some historians think that is deliberate 11th century propaganda, due to Norman encroachment onto Welsh territory.

However, nowt wrong with a day to celebrate just being there.
