I have been turning some of the services off that run in the backround, I thought they were harmless but things wouldent start after that. My question is can i redo what i did with a recovery button. Like default setting.

If you're using windows xp you could use the system restore function, in accessories > system tools.

i use xpPro, system restore sounds fine, but it´s something i have done over 5 days now, and i checked my sytem restore points to go back only 3 days. so it doestn solve the problem

if you want to make a one clik
Services tweaked or Services at default you could make a .reg file by simply exporting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
before and after you have tweaked it

You could also use somthing like safe xp or game xp to do some tweaking of
services. Depends on what you want speed, usablity or security. There is also a function in safexp to go back to
windows defaults.
