Its a part of a norton application such as antivirus, firewall ect. To get rid of it you gotta uninstall what ever norton application(s) you have, but you dont have to go that far. Download and install this reg file http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/shutdown.reg (Right Click Save-As) it will autoend the ccApp and any other tasks that dont respond on shutdown so your comp shuts down with ease.

Will running that file screw up Norton Antivirus/Internet security at all?

Don't use Norton Antivirus... try Symantec Antivirus Corporation ... run better.

Hmm! I'll have to try that registry tweak. CcApp from Norton System Works 2006 is annoying when shutting down.

Get to the Registry (Start>Run>regedit), and navigate to the following "tree"/folder: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
In there, find a file with the name "HungAppTimeout", and change it's value to 2000 (by double-clicking it).

In that same folder find another file with the name of "WaitToKillAppTimout", double-click it and change it's value from 20000 to 4000.

Now navigate to the next "tree"/folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control.
In there find a file named "WaitToKillSeerviceTimout", and change it's value to 4000 (by double-clicking it).

Now navigate once more, but this time to this "tree"/folder: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop.
In there find a file named "AutoEndTasks", and change it's value from 0 to 1.
Not specific to Norton but useful nonetheless.
I actually cut his recommended settings by half (i.e., 4000 to 2000) with no ill effects.

Oh, get rid of Norton, too.
It's junk.

I manually set mine in the registry and put "HungAppTimeout" and WaitToKillappTimout" to 0, comp shuts down nice and fast :)

Figured it out methinks...just did live update after live update until it says there no more left and it seemed to have done the trick :)
