Hi, this is for the gurus,
ok - i can change nearly all of my MP3 tags very successfully, but one or two of them just refuse to be changed:

In explorer, the "album, artist, track, date" fields are totally empty and will not change.
I have tried using "MusicMatch, WinXP's own tag editor, and a couple of other tag editors" - but all i get is "error writing to disk".

The strange thing is though, that in MusicMatch and the other tag editors i use, the tags show up very nicely - its ONLY in windows explorer i get the error message !! - Work that out <_<

Any practical help will be greatfully recieved. I am using Win XP - Pro if that means anything.

Before you ask:
NO - i dont have any other applications using the tracks ;)
YES - i have scanned for viruses.
NO - the tracks are not write protected ;)

Peace
UKMan

edit: added extra info

Ive just solved my own problem :D :D
In a final effort to solve the problem i did this:

With MusicMatch, i marked all the files and used the "remove ID3 tag info".
The i re-tagged them - and it worked

Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem!

Peace

there are two types of tags commonly used ID3v1 and ID3v2, i've got a feeling that explorer only see's one of these, whilst programs like musicmatch etc can see both, hence why u can see tags in that. ID3v1 doesn't have as much functionality as ID3v2 i think, the only one i can think of offhand is that the filenames can only be a certain length.

i'm probably wrong, but i've had a hard day at uni lol.

anyways, when using something like tag&rename, that's why i choose to write tags to both types.
