Tmpgenc Problem Again

hiya.
ive had a few problems with converting avi to mpeg, and have sorted them out using this forum. however i couldnt find a solution for the sound problem. when i start encoding it starts straight away. but when i play it theres no sound. by the way i extracted the wav beforehand.
the avi file has an xvid codec.

I believe Xvid uses the AC/3 codec, which I've had problems converting in the past. If you are making a VCD, the sound must be re-sampled at 44,100kz for VCD format. :huh:

I d/l starwars ep:2 and it was xvid with ac3 surround sound - tmpeg does not understand ac3
I use cooledit pro - open the video and then just click save wav
has worked for me :)
get g-spot or movieid they tell you what video and audio codecs your avi is using

m8 u hav'nt said which format the audio was encoded?

but u could tri going to the environment setting>vfapi>and increasin
the directshow to the top of the list,that normaly solves
sound prob with xvid if the sound don't
need to b extracted :) :)

If the movie has AC3 sound then follow this guide over here.

now, that one worked but.................................
i tried another xvid movie but the sound was mpeg layer 3.
i converted the sound to wav using virtual dub and then tried to covert the movie to mpeg.
however, when i checked the movie the sound was either a few seconds forward or back! :o
i think it has sommat to do with the wav file.
i hope someone can help :unsure:

How do you save the audio,did you save it using "direct stream copy" ??
Did you get this error when loading up the movie in Virtual Dub.

If you did get that error,then you have to in Virtual Dub choose.

Audio-->Full processing mode

and then save out the wave which will be huge like 700 MB depending of the movie cuz it the sound will be uncompressed.

If you are using TMPGEnc to make like example VCD,then load up your movie as video source and the uncompressed audio as audio source.
