Hi everyone. :)

Whats a good program to use to really clean out the crap in the registry?
I have norton SW2003 and it just don't do it.
It cleans out some shortcut but it does'nt do much more than that.
I'm able to go in and get the obvious stuff but not everthing nor will I try.
I don't need any comments on how I should be careful or leave it alone.
There's a bunch o crap in there and I need a program that recognizes it.

If you think norton utillities 2003(which I have)cleans your registry great your mistaken.
Yeah it gets more than just shorcuts but it does'nt get rid of eveything.
If you think it does I suggest you look through it.
I just ran win doc to see if it would find some useless keys I know are there.
guess what?
Still there!!!
And win doc don't know it or one button and on and on.
I need a program that gets every last vestige of uninstalled programs so that if you reinstalled the program it would'nt know it was ever installed.
And don't tell me about cleansweep either.

hi there !
i'm using Ontrack System Suite four, and it is brilliant. it brings up a list of keys colored green (ok to delete) yellow and red .
if i have'nt done it for a couple of weeks, there can be 200 keys to remove and it gets them all.

MS RegClean, Jouni Vuorio's RegCleaner 4.3, Norton's Utilities, and (sometimes) Registry First Aid v2.0.0

No one cleaning program has been able to do it all. MS RegClean, Jouni Vuorio's RegCleaner 4.3, and Norton's Utilities are also recommended by Fred Langa of the Langa Letter (http://www.langa.com/).

ShockAndAwe^i^; If you ever find one program that does it all let me know. I've been searching for years and have found bumpkus as far as one "do it all" program. I know that even with the cleaning done by the forementioned, I can still use other programs to find something left over.

I've never figured out why a cleaner that will do it all seems to be a Mission Impossible. http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/style_images/1/icon14.gif

I DL'd regcleaner months ago and used it once and it detected some remains of a program i uninstalled months before that so i deleted the registry key only to find out that for some god awfull reason my IE was dependant upon it. Wouldn't a good regcleaner prog notice that it's still a viable program... i had to do a clean install on windows and was really pissed off for a couple of weeks about the whole thing.

Use at your own risk

The last time I used a RegCleaner, was with Windows95.

I didn't know those programs were still available.

ah.. the crappiest part was that i couldn't even open any windows at all. My computer, network places, my shared folder, IE... nothing. that's why i had to do a clean install. OH WELL! I got to start with a brand new fresh registry just like they promised!! :D

I'm using ME and I have'nt given up on the program!
I may have not used it correctly.
I was a tad impatient
I did'nt read help files or nothing.
Pretty stupid huh?
I was fortunate to have a recent backup
Gotta make those backups daily especially if you install and uninstall programs all the time as I do.
Whats the code ?

I used regcleaner b4 i got power tools and i had it freeze my system. if you use this dont open any other windows or do anything while the scan is running and it seems to work great. power tools found a lot of things that regcleaner missed. just read the FAQ first.... ;)

I tried registry first aid as well, it's good in that it is very easy to use, but it's not very customizable. I use it coupled with reg cleaner. Have fun B)
