Option 1: Keep the current DVD player and continue to buy all the movies/tv shows to watch, as it doesn't read DVD-Rs (very old player).

Option 2: Buy a DVD burner and a new DVD player, then just rent, rip, and burn whatever the hell I want.

Get a data player, they are great, will play anything you put in it.
had mine for long time.

but it's ok if you work for the BBC, as i pay my licence fee, lots of money :(

movies are like 10-20 bucks, a dvd player is like 19.99.
