I have just bought a new Pentium 4 3.2ghz LGA 775 processor to go in my Asus P5GDC-v deluxe but when I try to boot up nothing happens, no POST nothing. This is not a newly built PC and was working before now with a different processor.

I have searched for ages on the 'net for a compatibility list between the motherboard and CPU.

So can anyone point me to where I can find one or a least reassure me that this CPU should work with my mobo please?
Thanks

this chipset doesn't support the 1066MHz FSB CPUs.
What is your chip's FSB?

All 3.2GHz Pentiums have 800MHz FSB.

Models 840 and 940 require a higher chipset than the 915G, models 640 and 641 should be ok.

On the box it says "Intel Pentium 4 Processor 641". Any idea what this means and if it should work with my mobo?

so guys, we have come down to it being compatible..but what else could be the issue...maybe the new upgrade cant be handled by the power supply at all, or enough power isnt going to your motherboard to power it

No, it should POST at least.

Maybe clear CMOS?

It sounds like you may have zapped either your motherboard or processor. If you still have the old processor try putting it back on the MB and see if you get a post. If not that may signal that the MB is damaged.

word...try that...clearing the cmos should fix the problem...
