UPDATE 6/12/2006

Things should finally be resolved now though cant be completely sure just yet.
Those having issues need to pm me their ip address along with a direct
traceroute from their pc with no proxy or hiding by doing the following

Start -->> Run -->> CMD -->> "Enter"

At the DOS screen type
tracert filesharingtalk.com -->> "Enter"

Copy that and send it to me with your ip address in a private message (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/private.php?do=newpm&u=15441).
Right Click -->> Select All -->> Ctrl+C

DO NOT POST IT HERE.

Since there was a filter put in place DO NOT do quick page refreshes within short time frames.
This may cause your addy to get an instant ban from the filter currently in place...

I can't log onto filesharing talk unless I hide my IP, what could be causing this?

Oh and it doesn't happen with any other site. Not that I've tried the whole internet like. It just doesn't happen for any other site I do try.

Thanks for any help or advice.

You have to try the whole internet. Otherwise I'll have to respond "Insufficient data for meaningful answer."

During the downtime I had somthing similar where I couldnt connect directly. Closed my browser cleaned all cache and cookies and did a reboot and seemed fine after that. You could also jump addy if you have dynamic service. Let us know if that resolves it...

Is it possible the board is blocking some IP ranges, after the problems with the db.

RealitY
06-09-2006, 06:17 PM
Wouldnt think so since when I switched I was still in the same range. Although I had to switch a couple of times. Will take alook around the panel just in case although the issues from members appear random for now. Also a banned range can still see the site whereas this is like 404 errors. Make sure to post results from a direct traceroute as this may make it clear if we can compare a couple...

Just a quick note from me,
can't access FST using Firefox or IE it just won't load.
I can only access using an AOL Browser, but last week it was the other way around.
can only post in threads that are visibly indexed from the main forum index page no other forum will load.
Hope of some use.

I've PMed a trace route and am using a proxy to post this.

I don't come on FST all that much while at home - I'm normally here while at work.

Odd that my work IP is banned from the site but I can access it normally from home.

So, is this general incompetence from the admin or is the site getting hacked - 'cos to the members, it's looking like incompetence.

Just reset my work IP and it's working now, doesn't explain what went wrong and most definitely not a UK thing.

Can't beleive the thread has gone this long and still noone has explained what is happening.
Erro messages? DB errors? Just can't logon or can't view forum at all? Does refreshing fix it?

I didn't get the same popup as Baz. Though I might have different settings in popup blocker etc.

I still need to se a proxy to log on, but I haven't tried changing my IP yet. Clearing my cache, cookies etc and rebooting didn't work.

Thanks for sending the traceroute as its what we wanted and its been sent tech so maybe we can see what the cause is. Specifically looking for traceroute from a pc that cant connect to the site such as that. Would like to get this from JP also if hes still having issues connecting to the site. This does not appear to be a ban issue as you would see the site with a message and not be getting 404 errors.

Just had a popup from FST
As for Baz the traceroute he sent swows he can connect fine and may have some sort of browser issues where he is connecting with certain browsers yet not others. What he sees poping up seems to be unique to in his case I think.

When it happened to me it was with a backup of the site that was only up for an hour as it had to be taken down due to major corruption. When I cleared everything out and did a reboot all was fine from there on. Could be something that occured for those browsing the site at that point I suppose. As for the members that have the issue now the only common factor Ive found so far is UK for now...

I've sent you the traceroute using the method you wanted.
The traceroute youve sent shows complete showing you can access the site. Have fowarded it to tech anyway as the times are awful it seems. Can you still not access the site going direct or is it just slow. So far tech has yet to find anything on thier side causing this as in the case of manker issue seems to be on the side of the provider hes using...

Since The Great Rebuild Of 2006 there have been a number of members having difficulty accessing the site.
RealitY has apparently been in contact with those techies with their hands on the actual equipment, and the upshot is that it seems to work fine if you clean out your cache and cookies, then reboot.

Doesn't work for me.

Has anyone found the root of the problem? What changed some days ago?

lynx
06-11-2006, 03:41 PM
Has the IP changed?

If so, it could be that the DNS changes have not propogated properly and some users are still being directed to the old server. However, that wouldn't explain why some people can't get on even using the IP address.

I had the same problems a couple of days ago, and I assumed it was just part of the corruption which hadn't been sorted completely. Clearing cache and cookies didn't help, but everything's fine for me now.

I have noticed this sort of problem a couple of times in the past (not just here), and the only way I've been able to get access is via a US-based proxy. It would be interesting to know if the same thing solves other users' problems.
