I had some nasty spyware I got rid of, IBM0001. I removed it from my MSConfig Start Up as well, but even now, when I reboot I get a "Windows cannot find the program 00001..." dialogue...How can I remove this?

Run HijackThis from http://www.merijn.org/ and fix the startup entry.

I got Startup List from that site and found IBM0001. I jumped to it's location in the registry and I'm just double checking to make sure it's ok to delete. It's pretty much listed like this in the reg.

Shell REGSZ explorer.exe

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe"

You have to save your log file and post in here then read what it says , its probably the last item on the list ?

I found IBM0001 in the log and Hijackthis.de said it's very nasty. I'm just afraid to delete it because it's a explorer.exe shell. I don't want it to kill anything if I delete it.

Safe to delete or not? Yes/No? Yes/No?

Is it actually there? If Windows is saying it can't find the file, what are you going to delete?

If your not sure post on the Hijackthis forum or at the very least post your log here . To be honest I'v never had a problem with deleting the "nasties " that Hijackthis flags .

But its your call .

Some info here ?

It's listed as this

Shell REGSZ explorer.exe

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe"

I'm afraid to delete it cause it's linked to explorer.exe

is it cool to delete with the Explorer shell link though? or will that fuck shit up?

I've already deleted the file, I just need to delete the reference, but I don't want it to backfire.

If the file isn't there then the Explorer shell link isn't using it anyway. Fixing that link will prevent the message popping up.
