Reading the thread by Skweeky1 in the lounge,

http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=120442 made me think about the holy Jewish ritual cleansing bath a Mikvah Which would seem to have some symbolic connection to the story in the bible of the mysterious waters of Eden

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikvah

http://www.chabad.org/theJewishWoman/article.asp?AID=1541

In this article there is a part that refers to female sexuality and the rules governing the does, dont's and the taboes... :) during the menstrual cycle, Skweeky1 ;)

I expect tralalala would know more about this. It would seem that a Mikvah has to be a certain volume and must contain at least 40 sa'a, an old biblical measure, where one sa'a is about 23 liters... The 40 Sa'a 's would then be the measure of "the man"

:smartass:

The measurements for building the Mikvah are supposed to be (DaVinci?) coded in the bible ( Tora)...

Are you offering to come and build one in my garden?

You would need towels to go with that.

Would they need to be green, I wonder?

i only have a minute to post, so i can't read the wiki.

but i think the basic idea of the mikvah is to get rid of spiritual uncleanness, as opposed to physical uncleanness(literal dirt on your body). when a person accumulates a certain degree of spiritual uncleanness, being around a menstrual woman for instance, they can bathe in the mikvah and be clean again. this feeling of uncleanness is part of the reason that, after a woman is raped, she feels the need to shower over and over, trying to get rid of the dirty feeling.
