why not go to the compaq website and try to find the specs of the monitor

would that not be the first place to look. ;)

right click on the desktop, and select properties.
go to the settings tab then advanced.
then click on the monitor tab and check the option that says: "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display"
then just go to the refresh rate pull down menu and look for the highest value at your chosen resolution.
hope this helps

800 x 600 85, 75 and 60 Hz
720 x 400 70 Hz
640 x 480 85 and 60 Hz
640 x 400 70 Hz

no it doesnt.

If you use vsync, at 1280 x 1024, the most fps you will get is 60 cuz vsync lets ur fps go no higher they ur refresh rate...

most people i know who game, at least my CS friends, dont use vsync, cuz it sucks, and getting better fps is usually better feeling then having ur montior rate, and fps in sync. so turn off vsync, is my reccomnedation, and get what ever fps ur card will give you...

I always just keep my refresh rate set to 'Optimal'. That seems to work best for me.
