I'm getting a new cell phone and i'm not sure how the system works. I'm trying to buy a cell phone online but how do i get a network service provider with it? What does it mean when a phone is "unlocked".

Sony Ericsson W800 looks like a nice phone.

I may be wrong, but i believe unlocked means you can use it on a few different service providers, instead of just one.

In order to get a service provider, you have to go to the place that sells the service you want, buy a sim card (usually 25$ or something like that) and get it activated.
