The invitation, if you received one..means someone is helping you gain access to the site..

To run a bit torrent server costs a lot of bandwidth and money. So many users "grab" a torrent and never bother to (share) upload or just enough to receive their torrent...and then they disappear... It also offers the site owner some sort of protection from hit and run users...and other undesirables... :(

Because some crap people go here with the ambition of becoming a freeloader which sole purpose it to get free invites to some bittorrent sites. And the rules and regulations "somehow" prevents it. seriously, it just wants you to be more involved in this good community and discover what's more in it rather than just free invites. ^_^

Also, private trackers are a more secure way of filesharing. This means that invites are generally sent to people who are at least known to the community a bit rather than complete strangers, otherwise it rather misses the point of a private tracker in the first place.
