I want to upgrade the Harddrive in my laptop casue its only 30gb. so i was wondering do i have to get a specific hd? or do all laptop hd's work in all laptops? cause i dont want to have to buy a hd off of sony casue they cost too much. and also r they ide, sata, sca or scsi or r they something different? thank you

They are all currently using 2.5" mini IDE connectors, including the 1.8" drives which fit in a compatible carrier.

When they design laptops they don't know what drives will be available, just like desktop or tower systems, so they have to be able to take any drive. I don't know of any reason why they should not be completely interchangeable.

AFAIK, Sony don't make HDDs.

I've heard that some newer laptops are using SATA nowadays, though...
