Can anyone remember how to do long divisions?

I could tell you how to solve an equasion with two unknowns but I forgot how to do a long division:unsure:

I seem to be forgetting a lot of things I learnt in primary school:lol:

Just about! :D

If you don't end up with a zero at the bottom, then that's the remainder. ;)

I've never done anything like long division.
looks interesting though, I was good at woodchop & Drama :D

I remember all that shit like it was yesterday.

It might be because my high school focused so hard on math and science.

Pythagorean Theorem (sp?)
SAS
the quadratic equation AX(superscript2) + BX + C = 0
all angles in triangles equal 180 degrees
logarithms
sine, cosine, tangent
hypotenuse
blah,blah,blah

yet I don't use that shit on a daily basis. I used to love math.

I did get a D one quarter in Calculus (but ended with a B). I was rarely their.

I didn't wanna go to that fucking school. I wanted to go to a perfroming arts school.

I'm curious as to when folks learned long division.

Now it's being taught in the 2nd and 3rd grade on the regular (sometimes 1st) here.

...well you can keep going and that's what goes before the decimal point.

Fixed?

Yeah, you can bring down the decimal (.0), and keep going, but I always thought that was a bit mental, lyke. :ermm:

If you divide 7 by 3, the answer can't be 2 but 2.3 or some nutty teachers want 2.333.

It's definitely not 2 though.

Or better yet, divide 7 by 2. The answer isn't 3. It's 3.5.

I sat there thinking it was a mathematical 'mean' as in average

It is actually 3 r 1 but divide the r1 by the original 2 = 1/2.

Biggles, you are correct. So am I, but I am a big fan of integers :smilie4:

I do alot of DIV and MOD calculations on integers.

7 DIV 2 = 3
7 MOD 2 = 1

7 DIV 3 = 2
7 MOD 3 = 1

Anyhow, I learnt long division in about grade three.

..thats because these guys are kewl and emancipated, there is enough division in the world already...so we are in the process mainly of addition and multiplication :)

@ Busyman ..about Mensa Radio it's 24/7 and I don't mean 24 divided by 7 either ;)

I thought you northmerkins did summer school for the glebes who couldn't pass their exams and stuff? According to you, you get 105% on every test ever.

Is not manual mathematics;
when you put gas in the car manually, and watch the liter counter go up and you decide when to stop?
I like that game, but it can get expensive the further you go.

Oh is the special school during summer, I thought it was normal term time.

Or is that normal term time in America.

I don't remember long division either but im sure if i was retought it i'd catch on quick.
I don't relaly need it since i can usually work it out in my head after a while of thinking.

I can remember quadratic equation, pythagorean, sin, cos tan, sin law, etc. easily enough though. :)

You can do 12345/67 in your head, that's exceptional, it really is.

How long would that take, ball park like.
