We went for a walk today in the glen and saw two rabbits that looked really ill

One of them was sitting on the path and its eyes were shut, with stuff oozing out it. The other one didn't even move anymore and it's fur was dirty and big flies were buzzing around it.

I think they had mixomatosis :(

We considered killing the poor things but neither of us could pluck up the courage to do so:cry:

I hope they both died and are in rabbit heaven now. Poor little things

They probably did die, slow and painfully.

My dawg nearly caught one the other day.
We slowed down running when it tried to jump in the hedge, but it rebounded off of something in there.

Stupid wabbits.

I just looked it up

Death occurs within two weeks. It's introduced by man to keep the wild rabbit population under control :(

's a bit cruel to kill them like that though...

I hear bunny wabbits taste like chicken or was that rattlesnake ? A friend had a wabbit as a pet for his little girl , I named it Stew , friend got back at me later naming my children's black cat with the pink ring piece , Sphincter .

Rabbit doesn't taste like chicken.

It's meat is a lot slicker to start with. good with gravy and prunes though!

A full-scale release was performed in 1950. It was devastatingly effective, reducing the estimated rabbit population from 600 million to 100 million in two years.
Genocide, ftw :01:

I remember when i was a young kid seeing rabits dead everwhere around my town, the eyes of the Rabits hanged out of the sockets.
it was caused by Myxomatosis.
it's spread by biting insects (fleas, mosquitoes) carrying the Myxoma virus.
Not nice.
wash ya hands well

edit:
How did the disease get to Britain?

The disease was transmitted from Australia by a French Physician, Dr A Delille :snooty:
