im guessing this is a kind of app which will put a lot of unnessecary strain on a site if used by a lot of people.... thanks but ill give it a miss :)

I doubt it. Php caches frequently loaded content, so I would guess this wouldn't be the case. The generated html for a signup page is really negligable in terms of size.
