So why do I prefer Top Gear.

When did they add a fifth gear, I thought it was just a name for the programme.

The Fifth gear was discovered after they found the Second Gear, but it had issues, (made too much noise, too fast etc)
It was not until they discovered the Reverse Gear,(backwards), that they implemented it.
Hence they placed it behind Reverse Gear.
Tip : when in fourth, rev it up, then jam it into Reverse to get to 5th
