Trackers, bit of n00bs question.

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but what are Trackers? Why do some website, like torrentspy stress they don't host Trackers.

Does a Tracker do anymore then just provide the .torrent supplier with information regarding there file?

Like I said, sorry for being a bit dumb just trying to get my head around it :)

the tracker basically just holds the i.ps of everyone connected to the torrent. when ur bittorrent client connects to the tracker, the tracker gives it all the i.p's connected.
