Hi Guys,

When I boot up and my machine goes through its POST test I would like to be able to stop the screen so I can read what it says, especially the grid style chart that shows all the RAM, and drives etc.

Way back in DOS I used to be able to insert a Pause command in my Autoexec and Config.sys files.

Can I do this now on my XP machine ?

Press the pause key on your keyboard.

Thanks guys,

But you have to be really quick, and if you miss it you only get half of the chart. And I find that I have to re-boot and re-boot and it takes ages and I still have not been able to do it ! What I am really looking for is a foolprooof way of stoppping it like the old pause command in dos's autoexec.bat.

Well it depends... Some motherboards will stop and display that screen if you remove all boot devices in the BIOS. Some other boards go to a black screen.

Why not just enter the Bios to see all the related info , like Cpu temps etc .
