Explorer Crashes

How do i solve this problem .... Windows explorer seems to keep crashing whenever i browse folders with avi files

OS is winxp pro (build 2600)

scan for viruses.
I had the same problem also some files cant be deleted unless you restart in safe mode, spyware i think.

if it's spyware related, use either lavasoft adaware or spybot search& destroy to get rid of malicious files
