Hey,
my computer crashed or something while I was surfing.
I boot & discovered that after I press on the iexplorer icon the prog. loads & immediatly stuck.
I tried 2 download again sp2 & install it but it didn't help.
any suggestion ?
(& no, i don't want 2 install Firefox)
Thx.

Edit:
I have Kaspersky - didn't find anything, nor did Ad-aware.

Just to rule out a hardware problem. Since you did not mention other access/nonaccess to other software other than IE. Load another browser. I suggest Opera. Or tell if other software that depends on IE functions. Like a FT client or Windows Media Player etc. works.

peat moss - tried the options from the link & I didn't help.
I tried removing ie from add/remove progz & even deleted the ie directory.
I downloaded & installed sp2.
I even tried download ie7 beta.
all same result - stuck. after i press on the ie icon, the process iexplorer.exe is 100% & i have 2 close the process from the task manager.
I checked with kaspersky & ad-aware - got nothing.
I can open other progz like media player. In the meantime I'm using firefox, but I would like 2 return to ie.
Thanx.

It has to be a malware problem then or you used a spyware or trojan remover to fix a problem you had ?

Don't mean to funny but I thought your Thread title was IE6 "Sucks"

Ah I know what you mean if you like something you want it back . If Firefox works tho you don't have a problem with the net its your short cut to IE6 .

You probably should n't have deleted the IE folder but that's just frustration on your part . You'll get it sorted tho ,or if all else fails just format and reinstall Windows , something is screwy tho hope you get it sorted . :(

I'm racking my brain here trying to solve this dilemma ,all I think is either Winsock repair or System File Checker (SFC ) .

All that because he doesn't want to switch to something better!:yup:
But a format will surely solve the problem:P

I don't want 2 format but i can see that that's my only solution.

I think I'll try the owner of the comp 2 start using Firefox.
Thx 4 the help everyone. :)

Yup, he just needs to loose that initial inertia. Then he gets used to Fireferret and discovers it's better that IE :P

Changing the browser isn't the answer, you need to get IE working first, then change browsers if you want.

My suggestion would be, uninstall IE6, your AV and firewall(also disable your MS firewall), then reinstall them, see if that works.

Newsflash for ppl that don't know it already: Firefox can be hacked, attacked by as many spyware & viruses as IE. Well if u now agree with me u can try this splendid browser called: Avant Browser
