http://www.google.ca/images/logo_sm.gifGoogle officially launched a feature Friday that will alert users of its search engine when they visit a site suspected of distributing badware. The service is a partnership between Google and StopBadware.org, an organization aimed at stopping the spread of malicious software.

Before accessing the offending page, a page will list what issues StopBadware had uncovered in its own investigation of the page. Additionally, the page will offer the owners of the page suggestions on how to have the page removed from the organizations list.

I wonder how much income they'll lose by not showing the 'badware' adverts.

Great news though.

I cant wait to see all the false positives and shit.

But it should help some people in the long run. Nice to see some "good" filtering.

I don't think there'll be many false positives as the people at stopbadware seem to check sites out very thoroughly before listing them. There's only about half a dozen (nearly all well known to me) sites listed on their site.

SiteAdvisor (http://www.siteadvisor.com/) is pretty good.
