there's an actual story behind it:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pwned

A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

I thought these all stemmed from misspelled or mistyped words. Examples: teh, pwn, the !!!!111!111!!! thing, etc.

So nothing to do with a pawn then.

Just goes to show you can't just believe what you read on the internet. Even if people type things as if they know them to be a fact. Rather than saying something like "I think it might be ..."

Important tip there kids.

He was a zealot and they believed their strength came from their hair. So in order to weaken him she cut it off. Thus removing his great power.

With great power comes cuntish burds.

From what I've gathered over time it's actually pronounced "Poon" ......for some reason.

You've actually linked, indirectly to an "acronym" there, mate.

Personally I don't see how it is one, however if we accept that it is then surely "pwoon" would be the only reasonable pronunciation.
