You mean the max sources for a download? You know it uses memory, that's why you shouldn't put it too high.

Is the default really 4? That's lame. Isn't the KMD default (and maximum) 8? If that's true then yeah, everyone should increase it. I set mine to 30, though I do have a decent amount of of RAM (768). However I don't think I've ever hit 30 sources before, though I have come close.

20 should be a nice enough number I think, can't see more than that makes too much of a difference.

The default shouldn't be 4? I thought it was 16 or something around that by default?

Maximum nr. of sources I ever hit was 17 (for a pop movie)
Changing default to a nr larger then 8 is not really much of a use
since you need only a couple of good sources (depending on dwnldcapacity).
When e.g. I connect to one who uploads at 0.2 kb per sec I break that connection off
and reconnect after +/- 30 secs.

my setting was 4 and raised it up to 20. On a popuar file I usually get around 16 users.

Every source uses 26 bytes of memory! If you know your comp. its just to do the math...

Windows 95/98/ME ALL are limited to 100 internet connections (or LAN connections) at once.
If it temporarily exceeds that, the computer slows down and can possibly lock up.
It's a hard-coded windows limitation.

firstly one can alter the limit of internet connections by registry (only did it with w2k and XP yet tho) and second 26Bytes in nuthin for ANY PC
plus I don't think that this number indicates the sources it found, but how many sources are stored in the .dat file, so it finds more sources on resuming or when all your current sources disconnect
I don't know myself well wif this stuff but this is my theary
