This is one of those noob questions when everybody answers either nero or alcohol cause they haven't tested anything else.

No. You're thinking about DVD Shrink. That can use Nero to burn the DVD.

DVD Shrink can also use DVD Decrypter to actually burn the DVD.

I use Elbys CLoneDVD2 with AnyDVD for ripping & burning...
sometimes if Elbys will give me an error when burning something I've downloaded..I'll use Nero Ultra 6 (6.3.1.15).

For music, I use Nero StartSmart. It's quick, easy, and hasn't let me down yet.

For movies, etc., I use DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter.

@limesqueezer - Is there ever a point to your incessant blathering?

Ashampoo Burning Studio....hasn't failed me yet. Very easy to use and nice interface. Will burn any formats you want.

Always use the simulation amd burn at no more than 4x. If you burn at too high a speed, whichever prog you use, you are more likely to end up with a coaster.

Nero 6.6.6.0 - It's much better than a new 7'th version. No crappy slow unneeded functions - pure recorder

imgtoolburn i think is the best at burning dvd movies in folder format, anything else i use nero, why use anything else when it works perfectly fine at least for me. if you guys are having errors with it, maybe the firmware of your drive isnt updated or it may be not configured correctly.

for actual burning i always use nero, uptill recently nero6, now nero7

Dvd Shrink.

Great, easy to use software that allows you to choose the percentage of compression. Nice interface that allows you to pick what to keep and what to lose easily.

Get it here:

Paired up with a program like AnyDvD, this is all you need to burn just about anything! I'v been using it for ages, and its worked wonders for me! Fairly fast too.

The problem is... Neither DVD Shrink nor AnyDVD actually burn at all. DVD Shrink needs an external app to be able to burn. DVD Decrypter or Nero works with it to do that.
