Hi all,
I was just wondering about the wonderful world of hardware. So just a thought came up, why not make a post in which people can put their computer configurations in? I know people out there have got really fast processors, megs (or gigs?) of RAM, and sexy graphic cards. So put in your configurations, and lets find out our winner!

PS: I wouldn't qualify for this contest :D

Nothing special, but why not..

Currently:

1GHZ AMD
320MB SDRAM
GF3 ti200 128MB DDR
40GB Maxtor + 6GB WSD HDD
SB 128

If everything goes well, I'll have everything the same as above but XP2100 AMD, 512MB DDR in a few days.

In fact you're short 15 watts which would make doing any task extremely difficult if it booted at all.
hmmm you really used a lot of time on this...hehe

I know how that $$$ thing can be.

If u want good stuff, and cheap prices... wait a few weeks till the 9800 ships big quantities... then pick up the 9700... as they will have dropped considerably.

I dont buy it... but u can claim it all you want... lets see some 3dmark01se, o3 screenshots/scores of this so called leet comp of yours...

1. I havent seen one review on that radeon 9800 256mb... two, if any review site got one already, they would surely have to send it back also... as its still not final production hardware... so gg there...

2. 7 grand is a little high, in my estimations, less "you" *cough* overpaid for it...

3. You dont have to emblish to sound cool, most of us are beyond that...

Nobody actually stated what was exactly required in a computer to win this contest.

Is the winner the one with the fastest speed?
Is the winner the one with the most efficient setup?
Is the winner the one with most porn?
Is the winner the one the pc with the best games?

I think my pc is a winner and I think my 486 laptop is a winner too, for what it is.

Just a few notes, the processor is actually an overclocked XP1800.
The Grafics card is an Albatron Medusa Ti 4200P Turbo (http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/medusa/ti4200p.htm) very easy to overclock.

Off topic, but hey!

I was at a church, last week, where they project religious stuff on the wall. Words of the bible and songs, things like that.

I would love to connect my desktop PC to that projector, and sound system, turn all the lights out and play some serious online Unreal Tournament, in the front pew, while the minister was away.

Nobody actually stated what was exactly required in a computer to win this contest.

Let me then add this rule: The winner must have a computer with at least two processors.

p.s. why were the rules changed so that the winner had to have dual cpu's?

Because I said so. :P

And if you want the fastest computer possible you must have as many fast processors as possible.

Successor to Pentium 4 Northwood processor
Launch in Q2 or H2 2003
Manufactured on 0.09-micron process (90-nanometer)
667MHz to 800MHz Front-Side Bus
Hyper-Threading Technology
Clock speeds of 4GHz and beyond
Increased L2 cache size - maybe 1024KB (1MB)
P4 Northwood = 512KB L2 cache
P4 Willamette = 256KB L2 cache
Close to 100 million transistors
Possible name change to Pentium 5

Winner doesn't need to have dual CPU's. RN is J/K :-)

Criteria for winning:
Fastest processor (Dual CPU's do help, but is not a must)
More HDD space (With higher speeds like barracuda etc..)
More RAM (WinXP won't support more than a gig) Preferably DDR
More Video Memory and a better Video card
High quality sound card (128 bit or so)
Motherboard with support for newer technologies (Like hyperthreading)
Faster FSB speeds

There are points for each feature. The rarer the feature, the more are the points. The final points for each configuration is assedded on the average of the features combined. Thus, the one with the best configuration will always be the winner.

PS: I haven't still decided how to allocate the points. If you have got some good ideas, then put it in.

Nice memory and a nice processor (not as good as AMD though) but what about the hard drive and other ports such as USB and firewire, or the cd/dvd drives? Or are you going to add that stuff yourself? I think it's a pretty good deal for the memory, processor, and case. I would buy it.

Yeah, forgot to add that part, I bought it for the same reason, I have a celeron 1.8 and intel motherboard that only supports sdram, retail to upgrade the board, mem, and processor is about 350 to 400 dollars inbox.

I saw this on ebay, for 75 bucks before the upgrade, to p4 2.4 and memory

I am just going to replace my mobo etc, to my existing computer,
