(Newbie)Bit torrent vs Kazaa Lite

I have been reading posts stating bit torrent is better than Kazaa. I have not heard of or used bit torrent. I looked at the post of the best bt sites, needing registration & no registration required. Which is better? How is safe is using bt in reference to getting caught sharing files. I do not know how to download these type of files etc. Can someone give me some more information.

Download a BT client such as µtorrent and head to torrentspy, mininova or isohunt (feel free to google around). Try and download some of the torrents listed there. That should get you started. Once you familiarise urself with BT you can try signing up with a private torrent site with open signups and use that for a while, till u get used to the whole thing abt maintaining ratios n stuff. Build up a good ratio there and surely ppl here will help u get into one of the good invite only sites.
