First you'll have to run over to mirc.net and go into the addons section, find the addon XDCC browser, dont worry its easy to find. Download it and extract it into a new folder in your mirc directory.
Pop open mirc and type in: /load -rs c:\progra~1\mirc\yourfolder\xdccb.mrc
follow the prompts, then join your favorite xdcc/fileserver channel and let it make it a point and click process.
Note: in the config some bots dont reply to /ctcp, ya might need to change it to /msg to get it to work, and if ya close the xdcc browser window, ya can always right click in the window to reopen it.

Or you can get a dedicated host and run iroffer on it. I just read this thread to bring back the memories of old school irc xdcc days. Where has the time gone...

i used to use irc way back in the day, then i discovered newsgroups... time warner took away the free newsgroup access and now i'm stuck with stupid torrents. maybe i'll go back to irc since i really hate torrents. do people still use invision for mirc?

Que lines got to be too much of a hassle for xdcc back in the day.
The BT system is light years better anyway.

the thing with xdcc bots are they are hacked webservers etc (although some newbs hack pc's in korea/japan and standard home connections) - but the good thing is, the end user never really knows they are infected (unless they are smart enough to find out) - so chances are you will never be caught for downloading illegal content, as the user never knows they are serving it.
so it's not like torrents where your ip can be matched to a file (unless you use a rdp/proxy etc etc) - but irc is dying, I can tell you this from having used it everyday for years - you need to use a good search spider like xdccfinder.com to find the files - theres still a few good channels left though, with real good pre times on networks like a0hell.net and abjects.net - the one advantage irc does have over torrents is ratios - means you don't need a 'seedbox' or to share files from your home pc, because big channels on good networks always check files before firing them out, and I know there is public trackers, but speeds suck and you never know what you are getting :)

IRC, isn't that a type of communicator program? I knew it was open source back in the day, is it still.
