View Full Version : Ribs or omelette?

Yesterday I ate chinese style pork ribs which were a day out of date but I cooked them for 5 minutes longer to be on the safe side and then when I got home from the pub I cooked myself a cheese omelette.

This morning I woke up at 6am with an upset stomach giving me both ends action.

I can't work out which is the culprit. :dabs:

I think the omlette.

I never eat after going to the pub, it always ends in tears

I think omelette too as my arse smells like rotten eggs :(

I only think ribs cos they repeated on me all afternoon after eating them :frusty:

It was the ribs, no question.

Oh and when you say "cooked" can we assume that you heard the sound "ding" at the end of the procedure.

DanB

I did them in the oven for 40 minutes and the packet only said 30 - 35mins

So by this fabulous logic we can just ignore best before dates. Simply add 5 minutes cooking time for every day past the said date. I shall be off to ASDA forthwith to be purchasing bargains aplenty.

I couldn't see what difference 12 hours would make in the grand scheme of things. I just thought if I cooked them for a bit longer it would kill off any nasties.

But what difference does an extra 5 minutes do, apart from make your food dry and chewy?

DanB

an extra 5 mins at gas mark 7 should kill any nasties, or so i thought.

And they weren't dry and chewy, they were very nice

Using Dan's culinary tips I have just purchased a weeks shopping, for a family of 6, for just ander £13 ($127). Granted the cooking times will have to be increased, so that by the end of the week minute steaks will be taking considerably over half an hour. However I think you'll agree it's well worth it.

Cheers Dan, any more tips greatly appreciated.

And also I have thrown out all the eggs and cheese, as that particular combination is just too risky to work with.

DanB

I felt better about 2 hours ago so I ate the cheese sandwiches I made last night for work. I threw them up about half hour ago :(

I'm mean to be going out to a Thai restaurant tonight for my mate's birthday but I'm wondering if that might not be the wisest of ideas.

If your going to a Thai restaurant probly best to have something simple. A cheese omlette, you can never go wrong with one of them.

Where had you kept that pork stuff before you cooked it?

Dates mean less if you keep t'stuff in the freezer.

Ribs made you ill, but because you were ill the other foodstuffs such as the eggs, cheese and lager probably wasn't digested properly and irritated your system futher.

Never take chances with pork though mate. You could make yourself seriously ill or contract one of these little buggers.

12 bottles of Newkie Brown can also generate the sulpherous rear end syndrome too.

I think the beerage needs to be included the overall equation.

Although the ribs were doubtless the catalyzing culprit in your episode of gastrinomical distress, you seem to have no sense of propriety as regards mixing imbibables and foodstuffs.

The three gaseous ingredients militated to overwhelm the slight binding effect of the cheese in the omelette, which could only aggravate the bidirectional aspect of ejection.

You are lucky to have survived, and may yet die. ;)

I tout your firm to any and all.

BTW-

I wonder if I might temporarily store my spare punctuation and a bit of cash in your vault?

Mine is down for repairs, as it's been overloaded so long the door-hinges have finally sprung...:P

Not really. It's about right. When I spoke to manker from work, trying to be all worky because I didn't want the powers to know I was on a personal call, he didn't recognise me and was narky to the "posh-sounding bird" he was speaking to. This obviously shows in my writing style also.

I'd love to help but unfortunately I would live in fear of contamination, on two fronts. Over-use of the letter "z", pronounced "zed" and under-use of the letter "u", pronounced "you".
