OK here whats up,

i downloaded a copy of windows 2000 from bearshare,

and its missing some files,

instalation goes okay,
but when you start it,

it shows the windows 2000 screen,

then i get the blue screen of death!!!!!
saying that its missing a logon file.

is there any way to fix it without downlading a new copy?

if i do have to download a new copy,

is there a web site i can get it from in a zip file?

and also another problem,

my moms gateway had to have windows xp reinstalled,

but its missing the LAN driver so she cant connect to the internet,

where do i get that?

oh and if youre reading this check out my other thread.

What LAN card do you need the driver for? Make and model please.

Yes. http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp

If you haven't figured it out yet... It's next to impossible for us to help you if you don't provide specific information about your computer(s).

Sometimes if your new to computers you can use simple tools to help .
Belarc or UDI can help . But if you have a model number or sticker on your machine it makes it easy .

Mabye a corrupt file or dirty cd ? Your talking about win 2000 boot problem now tho right . Its not just you I'v spent hours trying a fresh install of Win 2000 pro , I cleaned the disk burn it to anouther .

This was a legit copy I might add , I would try again to install but first use a win98 floppy disk and fdisk , format then boot from cd . It might be other issues but just a suggestion .

well that didnt work,

the setup and everything goes right,

and then it says blah blah blah file is missing,

without this file windows 2000 may not function properly,

that may not be exactly what it says.

I don't know the p2p limitation sure hurts . Can a friend copy for you ? I 'm not sure of the size of the file but maybe rapidshare ?

my first piece of advice from this site was to use bittorrent...so maybe use bittorent to just download another copy. another issue i had recently required me to rename a file in system 32 called 'mscoree' and my installation then worked. maybe i am wrong, i don't know. if it says 'xxx' file is missing, can you not use google to search for these and then put them in? i am no expert but it is just an idea. good luck
