I've noticed this too.

Also, when in a single session...
If I view a thread and someone posts to it after that, when I return to it using the 'go to first unread post in thread' button I am taken to the one that was 'first unread' the first time I visited the thread in the current session.
Hmm. I'm not sure how clear I've made that.

I'm blaming Rossco for this, cos he was the only admin around when things were acting up last night.

Anyway Reality gets a bit snippy when we blame him.

That's the symptoms I've been seeing, for about a week now. :dabs:

That's okay though because you're a git and you've never told me how to do that.

It works fine if you leave it load properly :dabs:

I'm doubly never gonna tell you how to do it now, asshat.

Fix it already, it's annoying clicking on the link in the forum index and being taken to the previous page.

And also, do something about the avatars, for some reason I cant see half of them, including mine, manker's and Karen's, most of the time.

(When using firefox.)

I'll tell you what else is fecked. Forum search facility.

When you search and you get results as posts, if you click on one of the results and it belongs to a thread where the thread title has been changed, it can't find the posts. :dabs:

Please to be fixing the broken 'view first unread' button.

I don't care how many people say 'works fine for me' -- it isn't working properly and, in my opinion, this is making the forum administrators, and the forum as a whole, look completely unprofessional.

It worked fine for years until it was broken by an errant admin about a month ago. I mean, come on, how difficult is it to revert the link specifications to the VB default.

Missing avatars is usually an adblock issue

Agreed.

It seems to work OK when you first log in, but after a while, if there are newer unread posts on threads that you have already looked at during that session, when you click on "view first unread", it still takes you back to the first post that you had previously not read in that thread.

I can't explain it any better than that.

Nope, that has already been tested. And they do work sometimes, without me altering any settings whatsoever.

And I think Guill had the same problem too, someone said, but I can't ask him, now can I?

Seeing as manker and/or JP drove him off, I mean.

If you search for "Lawrenson", and view results as posts, then click on the link to show the whole post of the first search result ("Re: Football Torrents").

EDIT: In fact, it doesn't seem to work at all anymore, for any of the search results :(

OK LISTEN UP.

Temporary fix - In the URLs of the pages cannot be displayed pages, remove the part that says "-post1515286" (or whatever the numbers are ) before the "#", and then it will find the post.

:smilie4:

EDIT: Oh, unless the thread has more than one page. Cawk :pinch: Then you'll have to replace it with "/page40" (or however many pages there are, assuming you even know)

Thank you Rozz

I guess they enjoy to scroll

May I ask what procedure was required to fix this problem?
so that we may also learn.

In the search the URLs ended with a slash (/).
So i changed this in the .htaccess file:

RewriteRule ^(.*)/t-([A-Za-z0-9\-]+)-([0-9]+)-post([0-9]+)$ showthread.php?p=$4&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
to

RewriteRule ^(.*)/t-([A-Za-z0-9\-]+)-([0-9]+)-post([0-9]+)/$ showthread.php?p=$4&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

But that made the URLs without a slash stop working so now I have both...

RewriteRule ^(.*)/t-([A-Za-z0-9\-]+)-([0-9]+)-post([0-9]+)/$ showthread.php?p=$4&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)/t-([A-Za-z0-9\-]+)-([0-9]+)-post([0-9]+)$ showthread.php?p=$4&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

Seems like at logical solution "afterwards"
I wish i could come up with a code that would unify them both.
does vb head quarters know about this?

It's not a part of vbulletin it's a mix of a mod from vbulletin.org and my own code.

There is a fix to do both in one but i don't want to break anything testing it and this method works.

Thanks for fixing that page not found problem.

How about fixing the problem of the 'view first unread' link not working properly, please.

It really is very annoying - made even more annoying when admin are, seemingly, point blank refusing to comment upon it to give members an indication of whether they're trying to fix it or whether we've just got to put up with it.
