When I picked up my new computer..it turned out that for some reason they couldnt get my system to boot with the ocz 667mhz gold channel gx edition ram.

So they gave me a stick of DDR2 Samsung and lowered the price.

Im really not happy with it..it dosnt seem to be very fast at all. So for christmas I am looking to buy a 2X 1024mb dual channel kit.

Once again I was looking at OCZ ram..I was wondering what you guys think about it:

1 (http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_platinum_dual_channel)
2 (http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_8000_platinum_extreme_edition_dual_channel)

Choice 1 is about 320$
Choice 2 is a whole lot more.

I just want 2 gigs, and I want good performance. What do you guys think

Go to your mobos manur. site. Get one of the brands they recommend. And give up on OCZ ram for this mobo.

yeah many people have reported problems with their ocz ram.. and it would be better to wait until around christmas to make decisions like this, its too early to decide or even suggest. I'd look towards Corsair ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145034 or this g.skill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231065 .

You can get ddr800 and overclock it to performance of ddr1000.

I'm surprised cloaker hasn't recommended Patriot ram to you, and what's more surprising is the fact that he hasn't badmouthed OCz ram yet.:ermm:

Nothing. I use it personally.

However cloaker for some reason has a grudge against OCz.

You should wait till after christmas to buy RAM. From what I've read, the price of RAM went up 20% (or more if you guys didn't notice) because there was demand for it as holidays for fall/winter are coming.

Go here: http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1181&l1=3&l2=101&l3=0

And click on "QVL Download" for lists of supported RAM.

News to moi (as is the new spelling of my name).
I try to avoid taking a position on a product I have no direct personal experience with and I've never owned any OCZ RAM.
