Question about private torrent sites? [Archive]

I am yet to understand the advantages of privates sites. Take TV shows for example. Is it faster speeds/earlier releases/higher resolution? Would appreciate some clarification. Thanks.

Faster speeds and earlier releases are the reasons that private sites are better. Places like SCT are considered top places for "Scene" Releases. But for say, tv shows, rarity also helps out alot. Bitmetv probably has alot of tv shows that not everyone has seen or heard of so thats what makes a site like that good also.

Well yeah, I think the main advantage of private sites is definitely the speed.

The main advantage is definitely the lower chance of being contacted by your isp about copyright theft.

I agree. Less chances of being caught on private sites cause theres a whole lot less attention on them.

well, not exactly,
on p2p forums everybody is talking about private torrent sites, and i suppose they r better known than these open ones,

and u must take into consideration that they may be a rat already inside these private trackers and making his logs...

Private is better because faster speeds,less likely to get caught and you will get a clean torrent no virus

A rat isnt as bot as the AUTOMATED bots they have scanning PUBLIC torrent sites. Ide take 1 Rat over automated bots anyday.

i find making a site private to be the better evil, i had an open tracker and the leech abuse was endless, now am turning it private and wiping the plate clean so nobody gets in without approval etc, gotta be harsh to be fair sometimes

users in private trackers know that if they wanna keep getting good stuff and stay members, they must follow the rules and share.
if every1 share every1 gain.
on public trackers if u hit and run no1 will kick ya thats why many do so and u get low speed.

the downside of private torrent trackers is that the mods and admins usually are assholes and they often have rules just for the sake of having rules to feel powerful. Like "your not allowed to trade invites on forums" -> the only reason the tracker keep growing is because the users keep breaking the rules.
