I'm looking for some good software to mix and edit mp3 tracks. Something that can extract seperate tracks (beat, lyrics, etc.) Overlay different lyrics onto music, add effects and so on. What are some good programs that can do all this?? So far i like Nero's Wave Editer but i need all the cool effects plug-ins. Any suggestions??

it sounds like you want an operator aswell as software
cutting up the samples you want is the1st part of the issue
nero wave editor will do it so will cool edit, i recomend soundforge
to mix them back together i'd use acid or nuendo or fruityloops all these apps do similar things in differrent ways
i hope you like learning curves
& then the plugin posibilities are endless for effects, which can be applied in different ways by all these apps
there are about a million different methodologies you can bring to bere to make music with a pc,
so i doubt any simple answer will tell how you should work
you'll have to find out what works for you
remember though, .mp3 is a great format for storing and transfering audio but not always a great idea for the construction of audio so don't be shy of .wav and other more maliable formats which are a lot bigger files

As echidna says, Soundforge & Acid, they go well together, cos they're both by Sonicfoundry
