Im looking for some nice 5.1 speakers with high output on subs...this is mostly going to be playing techno and clubbin music from my PC. What can you do for under 40 bucks? My current ones are some non name brands with low sound output and horrible subwoofer output...bought em for like 35...ill sell em to some kid for 40:D

Even at 40 bucks a 2.1 setup will be difficult to find unless it's used. New, you can find 5.1 at around 70 bucks online but they'll ding you on the shipping because of the weight. I used to have a 7.1 but the speaker placement just kept getting in the way so I reverted back to 2.0 and gave the other away. $150 starting is a more realistic goal for 5.1.

before buying any good speakers you should upgrade your soundcard to something like Audigy 2

start with the card, then buy some speakers

I stick with onboard. $200 is a lot for me, although I'm sure it would sound better with a dedicated card.

If you are low on cash, then fuck the dedicated card and look for logitech speakers (cheaper price and good quality).
