If the Ps3 has a web browser , one day or another there is bound to be a worm or virus for it . what are Ps3 owners going to do then? Norton Ps3 Professional ??

If you are scared, don't use it. Simple

Well, the dubious quality of your advice aside, what happens if a virus is developed that affects all the people who weren't scared? :dabs:

meh, format the drive and install games again if that does happen. afterall, u'll have the saved games saved on ur memory card, no? lol, i won't be using the ps3 for a web browser anyway. only to update games and what not. does that count?

I completely agree with mr. nails! you will lose no games or any personal or confidential information. Just use the web browser for updates, besides if a virus was to be created for affecting consoles, it would have been developed by now don't you think? Its not unlikely to happen though.

Also I believe PS3 runs on a Linux distro. There's no viruses for Linux, is there? (not sarcasm, it's just that I haven't heard anything of any Linux virus)

There's no viruses for Linux, is there?

or Apple based machines for that matter?

only because like 15 people in the entire world use linux and macs. luckily that's how many sales the ps3 will get though, so nobody will bother making viruses for them

Apache is built round the modular culture of linux. more servers run apache than MS IIS around 300% more but there are tons more successful attacks against Microsoft.
this will stamp out those myths: http://www.theregister.co.uk/security/security_report_windows_vs_linux/

I have had my pc for years and I have never gotten a virus, I use windows xp and before that I used 98, So I suggest if you don't look a porn you'll probably be safe.

LOL,that be sad but i think sony has thought this through, but i think if the hack the browser into downloading other stuff then its supposed to then you will have a problem

I don't think the browser would be a security concern, but then again Sony is the company that had that whole rootkit fiasco with their CD copy protection.
