I was useing newsleeching on a 15 day trial, and it was great fast leeching no problems, so i decided to pay for the use.
The problem i've got now is it takes so long to leech any article, i've been waiting nearly 2 hours and it has not leeched one article, can anyone help?

Make sure you've set the number of connections to 8 in newsleecher.

The client is rarely the cause of slow speeds.
What server are you on then...

Did you get a new password and server name to use?
Did you update them in your client?

I've set the connections on 8 bots, i've got 1 server, and i did get a new username and password,i'll put that in to see if that does the trick.
I've left the newsleecheer running overnight and it has still not leeched any articles.

Have you changed the server as well since you started paying NewsHosting?

You should be connecting to server: unlimited.newshosting.net
With your new username, and new password.

My guess is you haven't updated the server link and are still trying to leech off an expired trial server.

I've tried that and i get the error message saying cannot convert host address.

When you first signed up to newshosting you get a email called new accounts, Check that email and there will be has follows:

Hostname: unlimited.newshosting.com
Username: your username
Password: your password

Start newsleecher, Click on manager tab, Click on add, A box will appear server details, In server address box put unlimited.newshosting.com, Server nickname box put newshosting or what ever you want doesn't really matter, Port box you can put 119, 23, 25, 80, 3128, 7000, 8000, 9000 <-- These are the ports newshosting use pick anyone you want, I use 8000, Connections box set to 8, Tick the box server requires login, Username box look at your email and fill in the username, Password box look at the email and fill the password, Click apply then ok window will close, Now click on to subscribe to groups, Now click on fetch entire group list it will now get all the groups from the server.

I've checked and double checked.

This is what is coming up in the newsleecher log:

unable to authenticate at server:unlimited.newshosting.com:
(502 fe40-unl.iad01.newshosting.com access denied to node)

Won't be your isp then, Try emailing newshosting with the error
unable to authenticate at server:unlimited.newshosting.com:
(502 fe40-unl.iad01.newshosting.com access denied to node)

And see what they say.

Yes thanks i've done that.
Do you think it is newshosting or newsleecherthat is the problem?

Tony L

As to my previous post(slow since paying for newsleecher)
I'm still having problems with login even though i've had help from newshosting to confirm i'm putting the correct username and password in.
Would it be an idea to uninstall than reinstall newsleecher to see if that works.

Not sure, You could try another news client to see if that works, Try Grabit its freeware, If it works then you know its newsleecher.

Should i uninstall newsleecher first, or download grabit but leave newsleecher installed?
Also newshosting sent me an email to say change my password, but when i tried to do that i had the same problem authentication failed.
They said make sure i'm not useing SSL.that short for short socket layer isn't it, i don't think i'm useing SSL but i've never realy heard of it, how can i find out.

I'm having trouble login in with newshosting, they've sent me a email to say make sure i'm not useing SSL.
Can anyone tell me how i can find out if i am?
Thanks.

Newsleecher is a fine client. But something in it is not set right for you.

As a test - why not download Grabit (another client) and see if you have any luck with that.

Had the same problem with grabit, exacly the same as newsleecher.
The only thing i cant understand is all this came about when i paid for newsleecher, i had no problem when i had the 15 day trial of newsleecher.

Tony L

Also newshosting said to make sure i'm not useing SSL,
but i don't no what that is.
And if i was useing SSL than i would have had the problem before.

Just got a PM from Tony and he just said it just started working.

I guess Newshosting is still having problems moving the retention to 70 days, or have they done that already?
