what is the best software to use to copy video tape to dvd format.

I would think the best way to do it would be with a capturing device with a hardware encoder.I have a hauppauge pvr150 that does this rather nicely.It also records tv shows.If you try to use software to do this you end up with sync problems..IT also uses all the resources on you pc and takes long.The pvr150 or other hardware encoder does it in real time..

This is how I would do it and it seems to be ok I think but try it and see.

Play the video in a normal VCR player and record it from a camcorder to a mini DV tape. Then capture that DV tape using premier pro or any other editing software and it should work. Capture like 5-10 mins.
