Well it seems theres been over 300 new members registering over the last couple of days, so it seems this board is growing & growing quickly :D

They're registering because in order to view all forums they must be registered members. I've seen a lot of 1-post members lately. Most likely will never post again.

;) That is why I say clean them up every 60 days or even shorter then that.

Can't you make it so their account is deleted after say.... 28 days of inactivity?

The only problem is people on vacation and what not.I say make them send one of the MODs or ADMIN a letter/ E-MAIL letting them know.

If they care about the community and their character they will do so.

That's a bit harsh , 28 days is a bit too soon ;at least for members with more than
1 post.
The big increase lately might have something to do with other forums
being (temp.) down.(fasttrackmovies)

Should we strive for 100.000 :o members?
That's a bit too much imo.

I actually meant for people with one post, like random nut mentioned.

I apologise for not making myself clear :)

Besides, your right. Maybe 60 days like 'ole FC said.

I think 28 days for someone with one post is a good idea... say 60 days for anyone under 10? I know I went offline for like a few months, and would have hated to lose my account, but i had a few hundred posts too...

but i see nothing unreasonable there... people dont want to contribute, why would we want them? kinda pointless...

20,000 seems alot for a "small community", where the neighbours are cool.

If it goes to a poll or something re: period of inactivity I'll request at least 30 days. I work out of town on a 28 day cycle, throw in the travel and it's 29 days down.

On the other hand, there's oldmancan't, oldmancan2, oldmandid, oldoldman, ... a new member every time home.

Then again I wouldn't think it was bad idea to just pm a mod prior to leaving. If they can take the time to keep my account active I certainly can take the time to let them know.

edit: Oops, err just picked up on the ...with few post aspects.

You forgot oldmanwont :P

But I do see your point. It would be a pain in the ass if admin had to delete them manually too :(

That sounds like a nice number........45 to 60 days would be reasonable.

I agree, if your account has been inactive for a long period of time, and you have a low post count, say, under 10, then you get deleted. Though I will admit, I was just a lurker on these boards for a while before I made my first post. Now, I can't be stopped.

I'm sure the "1 time posters" will grow as summer vacation rolls around. Too many kids on these damn boards. :teehee:

definately. prolly where 80% of these matrix posts come from, lol.

Hey Again

Going Once,
Going Twice,

And the WINNER is 90

Though this may show the board to be quite a bit smaller, especially all the spOOks that pop in to say they got a SPANK letter and are never heard from again.  .

Although I hate to say it...

It won't be because of the members. It will be because of all the SPAM.

back to topic, lets clear some of these people out, the inactives, etc, and establish some of these limits we have talked about, PAUL!?!? where is ya???

Don't worry, the irony was intended...

VB had a policy of periodically cleaning out inactive members with few posts, but I don't know if he still does this.

VB only deleted accounts with zero posts. perhaps he has changed his mind now?

i agree that inactive users should get deleted. i think that if you have <10 posts then after 90 days you're out if you're inactive. 3 months is a nice number. if you have >10 posts then you wont get deleted ever!

if i recall correctly, in the Admin CP, you can bulk email members who havent posted for X amount of days.. email a message, saying if they dont respond saying they want their account, it will be deleted in 7 days.
