When I have bulletproof ftp running I have to have it tracking my ip being 56k I dont have a static ip :"> I was just wondering (me not being a tech head) what risks that poses, If my firewall is giving out a diff ip to my actual ip then will the ip tracker be reversing what the firewalls trying to do???

Just thought I'd ask :)

They are two different things. Think of your IP as your address where you live. Your firewall limits access to ports or doors on your computer. Doesn't matter what your IP is, you'll use the same port everytime, despite your constantly changing IP address. Does that answer your question?

If your firewall is enabled and your antivirus program is running, then you don't have much to worry about. :)

K m8 thanks, there's another complicated thing for ya, will we ever know if your firewall really is protecting you, I've got so many different rules for different programs the whole thing could be enabled but disabled if you know what I mean :D

Anyway just thought I'd mention that

What you want to do is head out to www.dslreports.com or someplace similar. You can do a free "port scan" there. A port scan will look for any open ports or "doors" that your firewall might have left open. The report should give you an idea if things are working or not. B)
