 I am SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE MISSLABELING!!!!!! AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGG IT SENDS ME TO THE MOON lol can't they just leave well enough ALONE?!? i mean it's not SO big of a problem for me because i have high speed dsl and can get things pretty quickly. But what about those with slower connections? IT MUST BE A PAIN IN THE BUTT!! I know that's why they created AVI preview, but what about file's and other things, MAN!. Sorry i just had to blow off a little steam hehe, but i'm sure other people feel the same way i do and i wound like your comments on the subject. THANKS!! :D

I highly doubt it. They are so stuck on trying to say that they have a right to shut this down that they forget they could mess with this system very easily. If I ever became a artist or movie exec that is exactly what i would do. Very easy fix to their problems but they arent' that smart to think of it

Why not though. Get a reasonably cheap PC, pay for bandwith, perhaps with a 1MB/second upload speed, get fake files add them, leave PC on and there you go. The broadband connection will fair enough cost a bit, but if it's a low spec PC with a low power consuming processor, it's not going to cost a fortune in electricity. And at the end of the day the music and film industries must lose a fortune through people downloading songs assuming every month they get 10 or 20 people to stop downloading and buy their products it's paid for itself already.

if you can leave your pc on sharing files, what is to stop them from doing so. IT IS VERY POSSIBLE

Well I think I have one of the worst cases. I left my pc on all night to download Matrix Revolutions, I even stayed up all night, because I don't like leaving my PC on when I'm asleep, I'm too scared! lol. Anyway in the morning when it had finished downloading, it turned out to be a three hour long porno! Not that three hour long pornos are a bad thing, just it's rather annoying when you haven't slept all night because you thought you were getting Matrix Revolutions!

P.S. I had a driving lesson in the morning, lol you should have seen me! I could have killed my instructor! No sleep + Angry driving instructor = Me almost killing instructor!!

Guillaume
05-12-2003, 08:37 PM
Yeah, there's only one solution when that happens to you: not having any driving lessons or driving at all... As for the fake files, you can't do anything about it, they are just a bunch of sick bastards who enjoy wasting your time (and some of theirs too! Did I say sick? I meant really stupid!) All I wish when that happens to me is that I'm not downloading some really sick stuff like children or animal porn... I've read some disturbing posts about that on the board!

P.S: No offense meant, but why try to download Matrix Revolutions (the third chapter) when Matrix Reloaded (the second one) is not even released?

Yes.

Why on earth would you think anything else.

It's the cheapest possible way to disturb the sharing.

I think, more often then not, these files are shared by accident. Though, I doubt very many people will go thru the trouble of deleting them.

Most of the time it's just done by users on accident or to waste our time, though the RIAA has some people doing the fake file sharing on purpose.

There are whole US COMPANIES devoted to the cause of seeding the p2p networks with fakes, copyright violation monitoring, and other forms of spamming...

They're often on fixed net blocks of ip addresses and make for semi-easy targets to block with Peer Guardian.

I HAVE PROOF, they do leave their computers on 24/7 to share fakes, I gaurantee it.

Just do the following:

Make sure Peer Gaurdian is running, up to date and visible.
Try to download a couple of fakes, lets say something like Reload or whatever.
Make sure it has only one source, not multiple, as regular user will deleate it.
Be prepared to watch "Connection Forcefully Closed" pop up as soon as the download starts.

Also if you lOOk at the list your Peer Gaurdian you'l find an IP block with the name AVIFakes, what do you imagine they do? I wonder.

Their some real SLEEZY F**KERS.

I just dont see these idiots using kazaa i think there everyday asshole people RIAA are if they are using kazaa that means there practicly against the law themselves by what they think

I mean there not acieving anything by putting fakes out use avi and varifieds then they can go f*ck themselves up the ass and someone is always eventully gonna get the REAL copy and it will spread do a search on a users files who is sharing fakes and I bet that he is sharing some that arnt. so would someone form the riAA share things that arnt fakes???

also once again...

Because Kazaa's a far more "public" system. eMule, Direct Connect, etc. tend to confuse Joe Public. Kazaa you just open, and search.

Always go after the "Big Fish" first, as the little ones will follow (or run). Besides they are tracking other networks as well. I think open nap styles are liitle harder to track though. Even when I use Shareaza, my Peer Gaurdian jumps up from time to time, not to mention they are intentionally trying to log in from blocked IP's. Take a lOOk at this SCREENSHOT (http://shareazaforum.anenga.com/attachment.php?postid=2438). Notice the names that are blocked, I think that says it all.

I have the image of running fish in my head now.

So people are not convinced that the representatives of the movie and music industry would post fakes.

Anyone who takes this position is either obtuse or stupid. Either way suit yourself. It is such an obvious tactic that to even suggest that it does not happen demonstrates a lack of understanding bordering on the ludicrous. Or as I say just plain being obtuse.

This is similar to the " do you think they visit these forums" questions.

I have posted my views elsewhere, so I won't bore you further. Suffice it to say that continuing to debate these things is a total wast of energy.

I agree that there probably are people who just try to mess this up. The only experience I ever had with something like that is when I tried to get this Nirvana cd and there were a few songs that just kept messing up my cd. It was weird because there was nothing wrong with the songs but it screwed up when you try to burn them to a cd.

If a few people put out fake files, and 100 people had real ones, would you not get the same file? Or is the argument that 1000's of people are actually loading up Kazaa and putting 700MB of nothing into the system?

It seems to me it would be far easier to have a whiz guy find the people with the real thing and hit them with a utility that F***s up their files.

By the way, has anyone actually DLd Matrix2 successfully? Even the verified stuf I try to DL sometimes is F***ed.

The MPAA cannot legally do that yet, but that's EXACTLY what they're asking for the right/ability to do -- plus FULL immunity if their 'protection schemes' prove a little too overzealous...
