I was told widescreen is the way to go these days..its better for games aparently. You get more of a view is what I was told. I was just wondering what the pros and cons are to as opposed to a normal square LCD.

Also, how does this one look?

Just take note that a 19" widescreen is smaller than the regular 19" screen

Really... Can you tell me. Say I knew nothing about these things (which I almost dont) Why should I pick a widescreen over a regular screen, or vise versa?

Well... The first thing that comes to mind is for widescreen movie playback.

The pro would most likey be for widescreen movies(16:9) since the monitor is 16:10.
The only con would be if the game you plan on playing supports widescreen and if you video card is fairly new it should as well.

I also still play BF42..I thought hockey and fifa would look cool on a wide screen..but if its going to cause problems with game compatability I wont bother.

I suggest you look at games being played on a widescreen before making a purchase.

Just take note that a 19" widescreen is smaller than the regular 19" screenless tall but it's wider.

Are WS monitors measured diagonally like normal monitors?

Yes. But a rectangle measured diagonally ends up being a smaller surface area than a square. So the fact that a widescreen monitor is a wider rectangle than a regular 4x3 screen format means that the widescreen ends up having a smaller surface area.

It all comes down to mathematics (geometry).
