I am new to this whole newsgroup thing. I am trying it out instead of bittorrent. The seeding was killing my computer, always seeding. With DSL download is so much faster than upload. Anyways,

With all the different Newsreaders, which one do you guys recomend. There is like 20 different ones. I am trying Newsleacher but the free trial ends soon. Thanks :01:

I've never used bittorrent, never will. Newsgroups are my personal favorite. Newshosting is good, click the link from this forum or click here > http://www.newshosting.com/?a=51500, you'll be supporting FST. Giganews is also highly recommended, thats what I use. As for the newsreader, most people are highly satisifed with Newsbin.

To reiterate whats been said above, "Grabit is good, and it's free!"

Seriously though, grabit will do everything you need it to do for usenet, without having to mess with a whole lot of settings. Newsleecher is also a good one, but demands a little more attention to settings.

I reccomend Newshosting's NHXL plan, 70+ d retention for $20.00/month plus they give you a kickass t-shirt for free :naughty:

As far as clients go I like NZB-o-Matic its free

Seem to like ultraleecher so far, looks like I might have to switch to Newshosting next month. I like free shit.

I've used easynews web interface for years, hard act to follow: search, preview, autounrar, you name it -- and https for downloading, also compatible with any download accelerator applic. Never looked back, never used a standalone newsreader again.

Yet depending on the kind of stuff you want, torrents are unbeatable if you want that new stuff the moment it's born.

i have used newshosting for almost 3 years now, before then I used someone else for 6months. Kept having retention problems and slow DL speeds. Dont member the copy name though.
As far as readers I used grabit, for a while but kept having cache issues (this was about 1 year ago) So I switched to newsleecher, lil more to config but I like better.
I used to use BT but I would never go back, I dont care if Its free, its slow and when I see a cd/movie/app I want I dont want to wait 2 days for it.

Newsdemon as my provider, they give you a free copy of the newsrover client as well and it works excellent so far. Maxing my connection consistantly. Id reccomend an unlimited plan whatever you do though. I went through like 25gb in my first few days.
