so what is an m3u file? i understand that it is the list of songs but is this the file that iTunes uses to access the CD's data on CDDB?

if this is the case can i download an album (torrent), burn it onto CD, including the .m3u file, and have iTunes be able to see that CD on the CDDB? what i want is to be able to burn an album to CD and have it recognized by iTunes as a legit album. is this possible?

The .m3u file is a winamp playlist. I don't know if iTunes pays it any attention. :idunno:

Its a textfile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Text_files) with playlist information. It is supported by lots of mediaplayers, including iTunes. You can open it with any texteditor (like notepad) if u want to know what is actually in them.
It should have no impact for itunes recognizing something as legit or not.
