I have 16x DVD+R's and a 16x writer.
OS Win XP and Nero version 6 (6.3.1.10).
since yesterday the "used read buffer" level often suddenly drops to 0% then goes back to 100% in the middle of the burning process (this happens anytime between 1% to 99% complete bruning process).
However it doesnt continue burning after that and the DVD becomes unusable.
Would appriciate any ideas on whats causing this or how to fix it.
Thanks!

Try burning at a lower speed.

hmm... it works when I put it to 6x speed
8x makes it crash already

what brand and model burner is it? how long have you been using it? have you upgraded the firmware for it recently? have you used the same brand and type of disc in the past with no problems?

btw, there is a version 6.6.1.4 of nero that was released earlier this year, you might want to upgrade:

The burner model is: Sony DW-G120A
I've been using it for about 2 weeks (worked fine untill two days ago)
Allways used Sony DVD+R discs.

I didnt know there was a newer version (other than Nero 7 which many say has bugs?)
I will upgrade to the newer version 6.6 and see.
Thanks for the link.

you can find a link to the latest version of firmware here:

that will improve the performance of the drive also.

I upgraded nero and got the latest firmware.
Then burned a few DVDs and it works great now :w00t:
Thankyou lysine
