Not sure if this is the correct place for this or not, but hopefully someone can help me.

Ok, I just installed the Bill gates version of vista.

I am typing this from my new vista install :)

First problem, it wont boot without the dvd in the drive, if i try to boot windows without the dvd it says this:

"BootMGR is missing press alt+ctrl+dlt to restart"

But when i have the dvd in the drive, it boots right to vista, no errors.

Second problem is this:

Im trying to do my little setup for Newsleecher

Step 1:
Edit the host file located on C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Add these two new entries:
127.0.0.1 www.newsleecher.com
127.0.0.1 newsleecher.com
Save it and close it.

Well when i go to save it, it says file name different, blah blah blah, and wont let me make changes and save them.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

I just managed to reproduce your first issue.

Booting with the DVD somehow points to boot a hard drive that is not set as a boot device in the BIOS.

The fix is to go into the BIOS and set the HDD which has the Vista installation as a bootable device in the boot sequence.

As for your second issue with the hosts file, try changing the file attributes.

As VB said, for the second problem, make sure the file isn't read-only.
