im having problems with trying to play hd content
im guessing my computer is too old and cant play these files
but ive heard that some ppl have crappier computers than me being able to play 720 content

Get the CoreAVC decoder.

CoreAVC is definitely the best you could also try PowerDVD with HW acceleration.

CoreAVC should work for 720p

coreAVC is the best for older computers. I find that powerDVD needs a little bit more power (unless your video card supports HD).

stupid question and by no means trying to thread jack, is there any way to burn a x264 rip to play on a dvd player?

forget all those other codecs, try combined community codec pack (CCCP) you will never go back. make sure you uninstall EVERY OTHER CODEC OR PACK YOU HAVE before you install though. use it. love it.

Only if you convert it to dvd. The dvd players can't play mkv. Try convertXtoDVD
