I believe that script kiddies will mess with your online websites, while hackers actually break into your harddrive.

This has always been my assumption, so don't be surprised if I'm wrong.

I found 19,000 results on Google with the words "script kiddies hackers". ;)

hackers are constructive people that general either make things or tear them apart to see how they work.

crackers are malicious people that break into other peoples sytems for profit, gain, fun or for there peers.

a script kiddie is a cracker that does not know what he is doing so he uses ready made programs like sub 7 to do his work for him. they are generally not very well regarded on the internet for good reason. they also like to use 1337 speak.
